Saturday sees the welcome return of the Bath Eights competition after a break of two years due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The traditional lacrosse season opener will take place at Odd Down Sports Field, Bath, home of Bath Lacrosse Club on 4th September and will be the 4th and 35th editions of the women’s (six-a-side) and men’s competition respectively.
2019 winners of the men’s and women’s Bath Eights, Hillcroft Lacrosse Club and Bath University, will be competing again and looking to defend their titles.
Hillcroft will be joined by 31 other teams in the men’s tournament while Bath will compete against 15 other teams in a battle to be crowned Bath Eights 2021 champions.
Previous winners of the men’s competition include Sheffield (x6), Timperley (x4), and Cheadle (x5) with Stockport, Bristol Bombers, and Bath University being the three winners of the women’s edition.
All funds raised from the event go towards the club development fund at Bath Lacrosse Club, which continues to help grow the sport in the local area.
Each year, the event goes from strength to strength and this year’s competition is sure to be a fantastic occasion after not being able to play much lacrosse for the past year!
In addition, England Lacrosse Official Partners, Net World Sports, will be visiting the Bath Eights this year after donating some of their specialised lacrosse equipment, including several pro-goals as well as a free coaching folder for every club.
