The Lacrosse Foundation Aspire Bursary Scheme

In order to further develop lacrosse in England, it is important to have a Pathway that encourages all to aspire to play for England.

By having successful teams, this will inspire others to want to join the Pathway and to play lacrosse more generally.

England Lacrosse currently has over 600 participants in the Aspire Pathway (outside the Under 19 and Senior Teams that represent England at European and World events).

The Pathway receives no public funding and is becoming increasingly expensive to the individual, resulting in some young players opting out due to the financial outlay.

About the bursary

England Lacrosse would like to be able to make bursary payments to those with the right skills and talent to be able to play for England in future senior international teams, who are currently stepping away from the Talent Pathway, due to the financial burden.

England Lacrosse would expect those players who are assisted to feedback into the sport by inspiring others around them to play the game.

A criteria-based application will be used to determine where the money will be allocated but it is anticipated it will be accessed by the Girls’ Talent Pathway, Boys’ Talent Pathway or any student with proven need.

England Lacrosse has developed a fundraising programme with The Lacrosse Foundation, linked to the Talent Pathway, enabling a sustained influx of funds to support future grant applications for bursary support.
