Ryan Griffiths, England Lacrosse Lead for Officiating, is to leave the organisation at the end of this week to take up a new role outside of the sport.
Ryan joined the organisation in September 2019 in a newly created post to lead on the creation and implementation of officiating strategies across the organisation and oversee the development of our officials from grassroots through to elite competitions.
Since Ryan’s appointment England Lacrosse has seen the formal implementation of Officiating Advisory Groups, engaging the expertise of our most experienced officials to lead on the strategy for the future of officiating in England, whilst also providing Regions with rules guidance and promoting officiating across the country.
On the international stage, English officials have consistently been awarded Championship appointments including 19 at this summer’s international events, with several officials gaining their first European and World Championship appointments.
He has also overseen the introduction and education of the rules for the new Sixes format, producing a core base of Sixes trained officials throughout the country and setting our leading officials on the path towards officiating at the Olympic Games.
During his time at England Lacrosse, Ryan also held a position on the World Lacrosse Education and Training Committee to help set the direction of officiating development worldwide.
England Lacrosse would like to thank Ryan for all his achievements over the last five years in post and wish him all the best at his new role.
Ryan’s last working day at England Lacrosse is Friday 20 September. After this date, in the interim, all related enquiries should be sent to info@englandlacrosse.co.uk
