The BUCS Lacrosse 6s Championships return this Sunday (20 October) for the annual early season Sixes competition featuring some of the best university players from across the country coming together to play the fast and furious format.
The Championship heads to Surrey Sports Park for the first time, with a record 49 teams competing across the men’s and women’s competitions for valuable BUCS points and the title of BUCS Lacrosse 6s champions.
The Sixes format aligns the competition with the Olympic version of the sport heading to LA in 2028, and England Lacrosse’s leading domestic Sixes League, The Fly Sixes.
Teams from as far reaching as East Anglia, Exeter, and Newcastle have been ranked and grouped into divisions across Championship and Trophy sections to ensure competitive competition throughout the day before heading into the crucial knockout stages.
University of Nottingham celebrated double success at last year’s Championships winning both the men’s and women’s Championship titles.
The men’s side beat their city rivals Nottingham Trent in the final, before UoN Women followed that win up with a victory of their own against Durham.
Those rivalries look set to be ignited once again this weekend with both of these fixtures also featuring as the BUCS Big Wednesday Championship games last season, both runners up avenging their losses in the 6s finals, as Nottingham Trent Men and Durham Women came out successful in the Championship games.
All four of those sides are unbeaten in the early stages of the season, but have yet to come up against each other so Sunday may lay down some early season markers.
The full competition schedule is available below on Saturday, while you can follow updates throughout the day across England Lacrosse social media channels.
