England and former The Fly coach, Mike Armstrong, who now plies his trade as Head of Lacrosse at the University of Nottingham has been nominated for Coach of the Year at the annual British Colleges & Universities Sport (BUCS) Awards.
Mike has been nominated alongside four other sports coaches from universities around the UK including Claire Cruikshank (University of Edinburgh), Elliott Lewis (University of Surrey), Joan Young (University of Leeds), and Nic Strange (University of Warwick).
The Coach of the Year award recognises the outstanding contribution of a coach who has ensured that players’ mental and physical health remained a priority over the last year.
It recognises everyone who has a coaching role; whether they be students, volunteers or paid coaching staff.
Mike’s nomination comes after a hugely successful season with the University of Nottingham that saw his first teams claim both BUCS 6s Lacrosse titles, both BUCS Premier titles and the Women’s BUCS National Championship title.
The BUCS Awards will take place on Thursday 13 July at the University of Leeds and England Lacrosse congratulate Mike and wish him good luck ahead of the awards evening!
