Border City Lacrosse Club will host their third annual Border Eights competition this September after a hugely successful event in 2022.
Taking place on Saturday 9 September 2023 at the Cotehill Sports Ground in Brampton, Cumbria, the Border Eights tournament is part of Border City’s drive to provide more high level lacrosse competition in the very north of England.
Last year the event welcomed six senior men’s teams from across England and Scotland culminating in a second successive win for Edinburgh City after defeating Aberdeen’s Silver City in a dramatic one-goal final.
Carlisle’s first lacrosse club, Border City, was founded in 2019 and has grown from humble beginnings to where it is today, supporting a men’s, a women’s, and a junior team.
The club was set up by a group of ex-players who became frustrated by the lack of opportunities to play lacrosse in Carlisle and across Cumbria as a whole.
Teams wanting to take part in the second annual Border Eights competition can register by emailing cumbrialax@gmail.com and entry per team costs £100; there is also the option to camp on site for those travelling from afar.
