England senior men to hold Invitational assessment tournament

England Senior Men will hold an invitational tournament on the weekend of the 17/18 September as an assessment for selection for the 2023 Men’s World Championship squad.

The tournament will take place at Burnley College with over 70 players to be invited to attend, as part of the coaching staff assessment process and, with a panel of selectors, create a training squad to move forward for the 2022/23 season.

This tournament is open for all to register interest however, a selection panel will then draft players to teams based off past experience and discussions with players’ coaches.

The format will include individual, group and team drills, competitive situational play as well as a full-field competitive tournament in order to give the staff the opportunity to review and assess players in a variety of situations and environments.

All players are expected to attend both days from 09:30 - 17:30. The Training Squad will be selected after the event who will then be invited to start training with the team on a monthly basis from October 2022 onwards.

The tournament will also be used to develop talented coaches who will also be drafted to lead each of the teams.

In order to facilitate this weekend, we are looking for talented coaches to lead teams in the 4-way tournament being held on Saturday PM and all-day Sunday.

The selected coaches are also welcome to attend and spectate the morning session should they wish to do so with the opportunity to learn and develop their skills alongside the national team coaching staff.
