England to open against Australia at Women's World Championship

England will open up their Women’s World Championship campaign against Australia on 30 June in a rematch of the 2017 World Championship bronze medal game.

World Lacrosse has announced the schedule for the 2022 World Lacrosse Women's Championship, which will be held from 29 June - 9 July at Towson (Md.) University, revealing the dates of England’s preliminary pool matches.

Following our opening game against Australia (30 June), England will play Scotland (2 July), Canada (3 July), and finally USA in an eye-catching fixture on America’s Independence Day (4 July). (See below for match times)

The final and bronze medal matches will take place on Saturday 9 July, with the semi-finals two days earlier (7 July), and quarter-finals, 6 July.

England are the current bronze medallists and world rank #3 following that memorable 10-9 overtime victory against Australia in the rain in Guildford back in 2017.

Since then, England have retained their European crown in Israel in 2019, and made a successful return to international competition at the weekend, winning the 2022 Home Internationals tournament.

The World Lacrosse Women’s Championship, originally scheduled for 2021 before being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will feature a record 30 nations competing during the 11-day event which is being held in the United States for the first time since 2005.
