Top sides set for School Challenge Cup showdown

The country’s top schools are back in action at the School Challenge Cup this weekend, taking place on Sunday (20 November) at Benenden School, Cranbrook.

The eight-team premier schools tournament features the country’s best young talent, pitting the top eight schools at U19 level against each other in knockout competition.

St Catherine’s School come into the competition as the reigning champions after beating fellow Surrey school Caterham 6-5 in an entertaining 2021 final and have qualified again this year after a semi-final finish at National Schools.

Meanwhile, Benenden will have a potentially important advantage with the competition being hosted on home turf at the Kent school for 2022.

The other six schools competing are last year’s National Schools Championship winners Putney High, along with 2019 Challenge Cup champions Guildford High, 2018 victors Berkhamsted, St George’s Harpenden, St Swithun’s, and St Albans High.

The first round of fixtures get underway at 10.30am all leading through to the final scheduled for 4.45pm.

Spectators are welcome to attend, with parking and a café available onsite throughout the day.

Entry is free, however we would ask spectators to register at the astroturf when they arrive on site.
