England Lacrosse to support annual Rainbow Laces Campaign

England Lacrosse is proud, once again, to be supporting Stonewall’s annual Rainbow Laces Campaign that runs from 19 to 31 October.

Stonewall’s key message for this year is “inclusion has no off-season” and they are asking us all to play our part by holding conversations in our spaces about what we can all do to make sport everybody’s game.

The 2022 Campaign is taking place slightly earlier than usual to make space for the men’s football world cup which takes place in November with Rainbow Laces Day happening on Wednesday 26 October this time.

The Rainbow Laces Campaign, which was initially launched nine years ago in 2013, aims to raise awareness around LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport and, since its inception Stonewall has sent out over one million pairs of rainbow laces.

2022 saw the first openly gay player to come out in professional UK men’s football in over 30 years; the Lionesses became European Champions with seven openly queer players in the squad; over 40 openly LGBTQ+ athletes competed at this year’s Commonwealth Games; but for every success story, there are countless more untold stories of LGBTQ+ people who are forced to abandon their love of sports and fitness.

That's why Rainbow Laces is as important as ever - and we would love for you to get involved.

There’s many ways to support the campaign but the most prominent is to wear a pair of Stonewall’s laces which now come in the traditional rainbow colours as well as a variety which support specific branches of the LGBTQ+ umbrella including the lesbian, trans, bi, non-binary, pan, and asexual flags.

We’d love the lacrosse community to join in with this year’s campaign and assisting Stonewall with the hugely important work they do by grabbing your own pair of Rainbow Laces HERE.
