England Lacrosse is pleased to announce the appointment of Sally Keogh as England women’s Under 23s Head Coach.

Keogh has been promoted from her current role as Assistant Coach, replacing the outgoing Alex Carnegie-Brown who is stepping down to spend more time with their family.

As a player, Sally is a World Cup medal winner and European champion, having played in two World and three European events since her England debut in 2003, most memorably as a member of the 2017 World Cup bronze medal winning team.

Following their playing career, Sally took up the role of U23 Assistant Coach in 2019, as well as serving as Goalkeeping Coach for the Under 19s at the 2019 U19 Women’s World Championship in Canada.

She is currently also Head of Lacrosse at St Helen and St Katharine School and has been Head Coach of Oxford University’s women’s programme since 2017.

Keogh said: “I feel very privileged in taking up this role and am very excited to have the opportunity to work with such a great group of players to help them maximise their potential.

“I’m committed to working tirelessly to maintain the high standards set and to help the players grow and develop to hopefully represent our Senior England squad in the future.

“There are big shoes to fill but I If I can achieve even half as much as Alex did then I will be very happy.”

England Lacrosse would also like to give thanks to Alex Carnegie-Brown for all her work with the Under 23 programme over the last few years.

Carnegie-Brown said of her departure: “After four seasons as Head Coach, I have decided to step down in order to spend more time with my young family.

“I am unfortunately no longer able to give as much time to the role as it deserves but it has been an honour to lead this programme from its inception.

“I am delighted to be leaving the programme in great shape, with an exciting and talented group of players, and an excellent coaching and management group to take things forward.

“I look forward to continuing to work with England players going forward in a new capacity."
