Long serving England Lacrosse Non-Executive Director, Hamish McInnes, has left his role on the Board of Directors following the conclusion of the England Lacrosse Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2021 last month.
In his role as a Non-Executive Director, Hamish served the longest possible tenure which has seen him sit on the Board for over 10 years where he was critical in developing our sport and its organisation.
He played key roles in advising on Government policy, developing our Performance Advisory Group, including the appointment of England Lacrosse National Performance & Talent Development Manager, Jane Powell, supporting key decisions such as the staging of the 2017 World Lacrosse Women’s Championships as well as assisting in the most difficult decisions like rescinding our hosting of the 2018 Men’s World Lacrosse Championships and the cancelling of our overseas coaching programme in 2015.
The current Chief Executive Officer of British Shooting, Hamish’s knowledge and experience of performance traits, behaviour and characteristics has been invaluable in shifting the aspirations of the England Lacrosse national squads.
During his tenure, there has been an increase in professionalism, applications and interviews for all Head Coach positions and support staff, sports science and links with the Board.
He has supported the England Lacrosse Performance Advisory Group and is a key ally on other Boards and Groups, particularly the Commonwealth Games Federation.
Hamish will now take up a more permanent advisory role at England Lacrosse, assisting the Performance Advisory Group and the Governance Group, offering up his wealth of knowledge to help continue the improvement of the organisation moving forwards.
Upon hearing the news of Hamish’s departure from the Board, England Lacrosse Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mark Coups, remarked:
“I want to give my profound thanks and best wishes to Hamish McInnes on behalf of the whole of the lacrosse community for all the work he has done as our first Independent Board Director as he finishes his final term of office.
“Hamish has been hugely influential in creating and then chairing the first joint Men's and Women's Performance Committee, appointing our first performance director, Dr Jane Powell and in championing our National Teams and Academy programme.
“Alongside his work in Performance, Hamish has been a driving force behind the modernisation of our governance, financial and decision-making structures, as well as advising the board on the key decisions over the last decade.
“His wise council, good humour, knowledge of the sport and governing body sector will be missed.
“However, I am delighted to announce that Hamish will be staying involved in lacrosse assisting us with our Performance and governance groups.
“Thank you again Hamish for all you have done and lacrosse is very grateful for your support over many years.”
