England Box Lacrosse Team Set to Host North vs South Game in Preparation for 2021 European Championships

England Box Lacrosse has announced the hosting of a North v South exhibition match aimed at being the first step towards building the 2020 and 2021 national team squad.

The game will be played at the Midlands Roller Arena, Lutterworth on Sunday 15 March 12.30pm face-off with two possible follow-up fixtures in May.

Coach Andy Downing says: “The North vs South game will be the first step in building our team for the 2021 European Box Lacrosse Championships.

“We’d like to see the best quality game of box lacrosse England can put together domestically […] and we’ll use these games to form the basis of the team which will travel to Germany in July to play a set of international fixtures”.

Ahead of a squad announcement for the July fixtures, England Head Coach, Walt Christianson, will also be holding training camps between 7 and 18 May, where all players interested in playing for England in 2020 will be able to trial.

The 2021 European Box Lacrosse Championships will be just the second edition of the tournament and will be held in Hannover, Germany between the 30 July and 7 August.

European Lacrosse are expecting up to 20 nations to take part, building on the 14 competing teams last time out.

England finished 5th at the inaugural competition held in Turku, Finland in 2017 with Israel being crowned champions.
