England Lacrosse’s new initiative, aimed at offering talented male university players the opportunity to work with top coaches to develop their skills, is back with the latest sessions coming up in February.
The England Lacrosse ‘Rough Diamond’ talent clinics have been designed to introduce the most talented university players to high-level coaching and performance methods with the ultimate goal of developing players capable of playing Premier League lacrosse in the future.
The programme is aimed exclusively at male university players with NO previous competitive lacrosse experience before attending university, who have shown to be quick learners in picking up the sport.
We are asking university lacrosse committees or team captains to submit nominations of players they feel reflect the playing criteria attached below and would be interested in taking part in the programme.
We can also confirm that the South Clinic will be led by Phil Collier, ex-England Men’s Coach and current England Women’s National Team Director, while Paul Coups will head up the North Clinic, Head Coach of the 2016 England Men’s U19 World Championship squad.
Clinic Dates:
South – Oxford Brookes University
Sunday 3 February
North – Rochdale Lacrosse Club
Sunday 3 February
The North and South groups will then come together at a central venue for a joint training session and match on Sunday 21 April.
Nomination forms should be submitted to Kerrie Lawler at k.lawler@englandlacrosse.co.uk as soon as possible and direct communications will then be sent out to nominated players. Please note there will be an associated cost to the players involved for the programme.
